The Invisible Boundaries project has many levels of engagement locally, for community members and artists focusing on The Arboretum Park in Derby. The project engages the community in celebrating the history of the Arboretum Park and the visible and invisible boundaries surrounding it over the 175 years.
On the 3rd of March 2016, we had the pleasure of having children from the Arboretum Primary School taking part in one of the Find the Fact session. The session was divided into 2 parts: first, there was a brief presentation on the history of the Arboretum Park; later on, we had a creative activity session based on the facts gathered in the presentation.
It was interesting to see how children used the information we provided in the presentation in different creative ways. Some of them decided to paint their favourite places in the park with vivid acrylic or water colours. Others, opted to write stories about the history of park, imagining how people used to behave and use the park. Children have an amazing imagination and at the end of the session we collected several beautiful artwork.
We would like to thank the school for the amazing time and we hope the session was useful and fun at the same time.
